Although my love for makeup is greater than my love of most things, sleep is not one of them. If there is any possible chance I can extra time in bed, I’m going to take it regardless of the repercussions. Alongside that, I think my skin would essentially combust if I wore heavy-duty makeup everyday. To all my ‘everyday is glam day’ gals, I salute you! I wish I had your dedication and obedient skin. However, when an occasion calls that I’m out of the house for an extended period of time and need to remain presentable. Or if I have my sassy pants on, it’s full glam time. So let’s get into the full glam base that isn’t budging routine!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Priming the skin is without a doubt a MUST when it comes to making your makeup last and giving it the desired finish. My holy grail primer is of course the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. It fills in my crater pores, keeps oils at bay and gives a gorg base for your foundation to sit in. I’ve also been loving the Rimmel #Insta Fix & Go Primer & Setting Spray, just to really lay the groundwork for what is coming!
It’s now time for foundation, the liquid magic that genuinely makes me look nothing like me. And I couldn’t be happier about it. When it’s full glam time, it is of course a full coverage foundation I’ll reach for, enter the Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation. This stuff is so heavy duty, yet lightweight on the skin. It makes your skin look like you haven’t gone through puberty. (Does anyone else look at children’s skin and eyelashes just like, ‘you don’t know how good you’ve got it’?).
Then it’s concealing those under eye circles, so I use my fav Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and place this in an upside down triangle. This is one of my favourite makeup tricks, as it blends everything so seamlessly you have no idea where the bag begins and the skin ends.
And then concealing any blemishes with my bareMinerals Correcting Concealer. The best out there for anyone suffering with agitated acne spots, I cannot live without a pot of this to hand at all times.
As there is now a ton of liquid makeup sitting on your face, you’re going to want to set it down. So it all stays where it’s meant to and gives you a glorious matte finish. I utterly adore the Collection Primed & Read Setting Powder, not only is a pennies it locks your makeup in place and is infused with witch hazel to keep your skin clear. RESULT!
And as the final lock in, we’re going back to our Rimmel #Insta Fix & Go Primer & Setting Spray and spraying 4 or 5 spritz over the face to really keep everything in place.
While your setting spray is still damp on your face, you’re going to apply your highlight to really make it pop! The best makeup hack out there in my opinion! (click HERE to see my best beauty hacks!) My go-to blinding highlighter is the Makeup Revolution Skin Kiss in Ice Kiss, a stunning white shade highlighter! And we’re going to pop that on the cheek bones, down the centre of the nose and along the arch of the brows. Gotta make it pop!
And now that the setting spray is dried we’re going to chisel out those features. I do this after the setting spray as sometimes I feel that contour accentuates any texture I have on my cheeks. So doing it after gives the bit of extra help! For contour I use the NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette (the 2 bottom right shades mixed together) and carve out those cheeks, around the bottom of the jaw and around the hairline. Making it my potato face more structured.
And there we have my #slayallday makeup base! Let me know your must have base products or if you try this look out in the comments below!
So many wonderful tips dear. I definitely need a good makeup fixing spray, because it makes so much difference to the way makeup looks and also it makes it last for so long. xx
I love a good base, and setting spray for me is AWESOME! I use the nyx one!
