Too-Faced ‘Better Than Sex’ Mascara | Worth the Hype?

8th August 2017

Bonjour mes amis! I think the world and his wife have heard about the Too-Faced ‘Better Than Sex’ mascara, however when it comes to reviews it’s a very mixed bag. I have been lusting after this bad boy for well over a year, and I finally caved.

Initial thoughts

My initial reaction was, ‘I have never ever spent this much on a mascara’ as it will set you back £19.00. Which to me seems like a fair chunk of cheddar. However, there is no denying how beautiful the packaging is. In it’s baby pink tube with embossed writing. The tube itself is also very weighted again emphasising the quality. The brush is in an hourglass silhouette which is meant to grab onto the lashes, separate, curl, lengthen and volumise. A lot of claims, let’s see if it lives up to the challenge.

The test

I think every girl in the world uses 2 coats of mascara to really get those fluttery lashes we all crave. So 2 coats it was going to be. I naturally have quite long eyelashes anyway, however they’re almost invisible they’re so fair. So I personally blink into my mascara as I feel it works the product into my lashes. After just a few blinks I could see my lashes were growing and thickening up, which I was very impressed with. There was no real clumpiness and I felt that even the smaller lashes were getting curled and lengthened.

And after I let the first coat dry I proceeded with the second, which added more volume than anything else which I love! I think it would be quite easy to go over the top with this mascara as it is VERY thickening, which leads to you having 3 huge, matted eyelashes. Never a cute look.

Throughout the day

I was delighted that as the day progressed, there was not even a hint of transfer on my eyelid. Which I usually really suffer with, the cons of MEGA oily skin. And my lashes looked exactly the same as when I first applied the mascara, there was no flaking, no nothing. Which is something completely alien to me, and I couldn’t be more thrilled!

As much as it pains me to spend £19.00 on a single mascara, for what you get: the quality, the weariblity and longevity. It basically pays for itself. I am officially converted, and it won’t be long before I find myself back at the Too-Faced counter. I have an addiction.
