Holiday Beauty Essentials You Need

20th July 2017

Ciao my lovely readers! I can actually hear myself getting boring when I say it, but I’m going to anyway! I recently came back from my weeks holiday to Cape Verde (it was glorious, thank you for asking), and like any girl and especially a girl who loves beauty I crammed the world and its wife into my suitcase, but through it all these were my absolute favourites. And the holiday beauty essentials you need!

Makeup

I think everyone is the same, that when they have a tan you automatically feel better, right? So once my pale face had finally seen the sun, the only makeup look I wanted to do was a glowing, sun kissed looked. To achieve this I used the Borjois Bronzing Powder in the shade Tanned, and I did a light dusting all over my face and then used it as a gentle contour around my cheek bones and forehead to add even more warmth to my face.

And what good is a sun kissed look without the glow? I have a miniature of Benefit’s High Beam and my oh my, I forgot how much I adore this highlighter. It’s a gorgeous pinky/pearlescent shade that it like liquid sunshine, you only need the smallest amount and you’re blinding everyone in sight. It really does give your skin that extra healthy look and I’m obsessed.

Hair care

Does anyone else’s hair go about 10,000 times better when you use foreign water to wash it? My hair is a frizzy mess at home, but abroad it turns into these pretty waves that I’m all about. Although, I did have some serious help, which brings us to the Toni & Guy Wave Memoriser Balm which basically carves out and holds in place any kind of wave or curl in your hair. You put a 50 pence sized amount into your hair and rub it into towel dried hair, and then scrunge scrunge scrunge!

And as hard as I tried, the frizz and fly aways are just a part of my life and I need to accept them … or not. The Toni & Guy Glamour Serum Drops are an absolute God send. Once your hair is dry (A.K.A frizzy and fluffy) take a pea sized about and smooth it through the lengths of your hair and with any left overs tame those fly aways. And viola, smooth, shiny hair … who’d have thought it was possible?

Skin care

I burnt my lips whilst I was away. I know, I didn’t think that was possible either. And I can safely say it was pretty painful. As I was desperate with my sad lips the hotel shop prayed on me, still the best €12.00 I’ve spent. Little did I know you can buy them for about £4.00 in Boots. I loved how hydrating the sunscreen felt on my lips, it was extremely thick so there was no risk of further burning. So save yourselves some money and make sure you pick some up!

Now, I don’t really need to go into too much detail. So when I saw the new Venus Snap Razor that was miniature and came in a protective case that was ideal for travelling, I was straight up to the counter! The razor itself is gel lined which makes it so gentle on your skin, which is perfect especially if you’ve burnt yourself.

The only downside of a holiday is the suncream, I hate the sticky feeling and cannot wait until I can scrub it off. And having problematic skin, thick suncream clogging my pores is not on my agenda. So I wanted something that was going to be quick and effective and getting all the days muck out of my skin, so the Clarins One Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser spoke to me. It has a lovely natural scent, my skin felt super clean but not stripped of all it’s natural moister which I loved. Double thumbs up from me.
