Birchbox Unboxing | June & July 2017

22nd July 2017

Bonjour my little turtle doves!

As one of my birthday presents I was lucky enough to receive a years subscription to Birchbox. Which I am so excited about. If you’d like to have a nose at what I got for my birthday, click HERE. But if you’ve been under a rock and don’t know what Birchbox is, it’s a monthly beauty subscription where you will receive a whole range of beauty products. And as a confessed collector/hoarder of all things beauty, I’m so excited to try some new and exciting goodies!

We have a double instalment of unboxing today, as I may or may not have ran out of time to post my June box – please forgive me!

June’s box

June’s products came in this gorgeous stripped makeup bag, not only is it stripped, it’s pastel coloured. A double tick from me.

Makeup

The first product is a highlighter *internal shrieks*, from the brand Cynthia Rowley. Upon first swatch I was sad to realise there no real glitter involved, which is my usual go-to highlighter. However, once I swatched it on my hand I was blown away by the pigmentation. And it is so easy to build up to the level of intensity you’d like with such little product. I’m very excited to give myself a ‘glowing from within’ look.

The second item I pulled out was a sample size of the ‘Bamboo Bronzer’ from Ciate London. I’ve never used Ciate London before, but I’ve heard wonderful things. And as I have a tan at the moment, I’m in the ‘I only want to wear bronzer on my face’ frame of mind. So fingers crossed this will make my tanned face dreams come true.

And the last makeup item is the Meech and MIA Browliner in shade #022. I’ve been using the same brow routine for a few months now, so it’s time to shake things up and see what’s out there!

Hair & skin care

The biggest item in the bag was the Scrub Love Coconut & Mango Body Scrub. I’ll be the first to admit I’ve only ever used one scrub, and I’ve used it religiously for about 4 years. I’m hanging my head in shame. And again, as I’m just big vapes back from holiday (did I tell you I’ve been away?) I want to stay clear of scrubs. I worked too hard on my tan to scrub it off! However, the words ‘hydrating’ and ‘coconut oil’ have enticed me in. I’ll report back with my findings!

The next item, is a full size Cowshed Hand Cream which is right up my street. I love Cowshed and I love hand cream. What else is there to say?!

And my final item in June’s box was a miniature dry shampoo. Like most girls, I’m a fiend for dry shampoo and the brand Amika: has got me from the packaging alone. How cool is it? And then we move onto the smell which according to the label is ‘Sea buckthorn berry’, personally it smells like the original Impulse. Does anyone else remember Impulse? I have a trip down memory lane every time, and I’m a fan.

July’s box

Can we just talk about this tropical themed box? I’m definitely keeping this, I don’t know what for but I am.

Hair & skin care

The first and frankly, most bizarre item is the Native Unearthed Coconut & Vanilla Natural Deodorant Balm. Essentially, a deodorant paste. I’ve seen a lot of excitement around this new craze, as it’s vegan, natural, and good for the environment. The scent reminds me of a dessert with the coconut and vanilla, however I’m skeptical about how well this will work. I’ll have to test it out.

The second item is the Flash Cleanse Micellar Water from the brand Balanceme. I’m excited to try this, as I’m a huge fan of micellar water and having acne prone skin the natural ingredients can only be a good thing.

And then we have the Percy & Reed Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Balm, which is a heat defence that claims to: ‘make your regular styling products work wonders, giving you more control and better results that last longer’. We’ll see how this holds up against my naturally frizzy mane.

Beauty

First we have the Benefit Chachatint Lip and Cheek Stain. As we all know by now, I’m not a blusher kind of girl. However, this is such a gorgeous coral shade, that using it as a lip stain over the summer is an absolute must.

Next we have the Catherine Malandrino Romance de Provence fragrance, which is a new level when it comes to floral scents. As soon as I opened the box, the scent hit me. I personally think this is a more mature scent, however if you like muskier scents than this is the one for you.

And finally, we have the Seche Vite top coat nail varnish. I’m excited to see if this is better than my current top coat, as I for one cannot stand painting my nails. So the thought that they will chip after a matter of hours is incomprehensible to me.

And there we have it, my first 2 Birchboxes and I’m hooked already – it’s like a present every month, who doesn’t love that?!

I love subscription boxes! It’s so much fun getting them and seeing what little surprises are inside 😀 I hope that top coat works well for you, I don’t like nail polish much either (unless they get done professionally), as they always get chipped and it bugs me 😂
