A couple of months back I was lucky enough to receive my first complimentary VoxBox from Influenster. If you haven’t heard of them before and you’re interested in beauty with a bit of a social following behind you, I could not recommend checking them out more.
As Influenster enjoyed my first review of the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara, they contacted me again and asked if I would like to review Marc Jacobs Highliner, Eye Gel Crayon. And the answer was ‘duh, ofc’.
I’d seen a few reviews on my blog and over various social media from others who had been selected for this VoxBox. And I’d also seen that not everyone got the same colours. DUN DUN DUN.
There is a huge range of 25 different shades, and in all honesty I was hoping for the classic black/grey so I would use them regularly. I opened my package and had received a baby blue (Deja Blue) and baby pink (Pink On Me) shades, which were gorg, but I wasn’t too sure how often I would use them in all honesty.
The packaging is minimalist goals. I adore the simplicity and am a big fan that the colour of the eyeliner is clear and obvious from the outside. And possibly my fav feature is that it’s wind up. No more mutilating your retinas when you’ve put off sharpening for way too long.
The formulation is a bloomin’ dream. It’s so creamy and smooth to apply. To prove my point, I could even write with them (excuse my childlike handwriting).
They glide onto the skin and waterline, staying exactly where you put them. Making it so easy to create any number of looks. I may even be daring and try a graphic liner with these babies.
The colour pigmentation was perfection, it was exactly the same as the shade that was presented on the outer packaging. Marc Jacobs, killing the game.
Although I’m not the biggest fan of the shades I was gifted (sounding like a right ungrateful swine), I can’t deny how amazing the actual product is. Once my current eyeliner has run out, I think the black shade of the Marc Jacobs Highliner will be my next investment.
However Deja Blue and Pink On Me won’t just be chucked in a drawer and forgotten about. When the spring and summer months roll about, these will be ideal for a pop of colour. These will take a sunset eye to the next level. And I am very much looking forward to it.
