My Everyday Makeup Heroes

17th August 2018

I had such good intensions last night. I packed my gym back, laid out my clothes and had everything waiting by the door so I could just get up at my 6am alarm and totter off. HA LOL. I slept through 3 separate alarms, missed my 7am ‘Cardio Blast’ workout class (maybe not the worst thing to have happened) and woke up with a little spot village on my chin.

HAPPY F’ING FRIDAY.

As I laid in bed watching the minutes tick by, trying to muster the strength to pull myself from my cosy den I realised, oh good okay sure, I have to leave in 25 minutes. I’m on day 4 of no hair washing, I’ve slept with my mouth open so it’s like I’ve swallowed sand, and blemish-ville needs to be contended with.

Operation ‘stop looking like an ogre’ is a go.

Hair drowned in dry shampoo and scraped up? Check. Drink a pint of apple and pear squash and oral hygiene back up to scratch? Affirmative. Now it’s time to deal with casa del zit. Makeup really is the stuff of the God’s isn’t it? It can transform you completely, enhance your natural beauty or even make you look like a fully functioning adult woman.

Collection, Lasting Perfection Yellow Concealer

I love late nights. I’m a bit of a night owl and just as I’m dropping off to sleep I’ll get a surge of motivation. However late nights do not love me. And I am the not-so-proud owner of some very purple under-eyes.

Enter the colour corrector of my dreams. The Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer has been my go-to cover up for the past few years and it’s so cheap, so good at concealing blemishes and whatever else and I doubt I’ll ever stray too far. So the yellow version colour corrects the darkness under my eyes amazingly. Slap some of the fair shade over the top and you are looking like one of those inspirations who go to bed at 9:30 every evening. HOW DO THEY DO IT?!

Bareminerals Original Foundation

This is no surprise to anyone who’s read my blog for a while. Other than the odd big night out or event, I have not used any other foundation for the past 5 years. The Bareminerals Original foundation is a powder based foundation, and is witchcraft in a pot.

The powder is so finely milled that it just glides on, it sits perfectly on top of the skin and gives you that ‘airbrushed and effortless’ looking skin we all aspire to have.

I can’t rave about it anymore. It was the only makeup I could wear that covered my acne without aggravating it, it’s the only makeup that my skin loves and there’s the biggest shade to select from. There really is something for everyone and I beg you to try it out.

Soph Makeup Revolution Palette

Does it get much better than MR for eyeshadow palettes? They’re so pigmented, they’re so buttery, and they’re SO AFFORDABLE. Praise the lord, all hail, bow down and all other prayer acts. And my absolute favourite of the bunch is the original Soph palette in collaboration with Soph Does Nails.

The colour range is absolutely perfect. It has enough for day to night, you can be bold, you can be subtle and they blend beautifully together. Not to mention the huge mirror. This is the only palette I’ve taken on holiday with me since it came out, and it’s going to be the only one I take to Portugal and Cape Verde in a few days (eek) time.

Freedom Brow Pomade

If you’re looking to carve out those brows but really don’t want to fork out for the cult classics like ABH or Benefit, give this baby a whirl. I’ve used the same pot everyday since January, and I’m probably only half way through. It is incredible. A little really goes a long way, the colour matches my unnecessarily dark brows to the letter, and it’s under £5.

YUS YUS YUS YUS.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

If you’re looking for super long and separated lashes, this is your gal. The wand curls your lashes as you comb it through, dragging your lashes up and up and up. If it wasn’t £20 a tube, I would use it for the rest of my life, however ya girl is on a bit of a budget. Even though mine is old AF, you can bet your life on the fact I’ve put contact lense solution in the tube about 17 times to stretch out its lifespan.

PLZ DON’T LEAVE ME.
