Sometimes things really do just suck. And I’ve noticed, especially since joining the blogging world, that no one ever really talks about it. It’s all lovely flat lays, and perfectly primped hair. So Holly and myself have decided to write the things that make us happy when we’re feeling a little low. If you haven’t already, make sure to check this little gem out. She was one of the first bloggers I ever followed, and is still one of my absolute favourites! So let’s get into our things that will make you happy list:
There’s something so therapeutic about putting ‘I Have Nothing’ by Whitney on full blast and screaming those lyrics as loud as your voice box allows.
Getting the thickest, softest bread you can find. Crisping it up in the toaster first and then slapping it under the grill with lashings of cheddar until it starts to bubble and trickle down the sides. Cheese could glue back together a broken heart I swear.
Get out all your pamper evening essentials, and go crazy. Put on a face mask, paint your nails, exfoliate the possibilities are endless. And you’ll feel like a brand new sassy queen.
Go to your bf/gf/mum/dad/dog and unleash whatever troubles you have. Sometimes I find that once I’ve said what the matter is, it doesn’t seem as bad. Getting it off your chest, and just having someone to listen is sometimes all you need.
It sounds gross and cliché, but making a list of all the wonderful and positive things in your life sometimes puts everything in perspective. That while things maybe a bit pants at the moment; there are so many things that are magnificent.
Go for a drive (or walk if you can’t drive like myself), with no real destination. Some distance from your immediate surroundings gets you out of a negative headspace. Crack up the tunes and zone out. Obviously please don’t crash your car. So don’t completely zone out.
Hear me out. If ever I’m feeling overwhelmed and emotional, I put on a sad film or documentary and let the boo-hoos out. Once it’s done, it’s done. It’s healthy to let your emotions out, and good for the soul.
You knew that was coming. There genuinely isn’t much that a sweet smelling bubble bath can’t soak away. If you’re a crazy cat, take your IPad in there and watch a Disney film. You’re welcome.
And finally, just know that everything will be okay in the end, you’ll see.
