Sunset Eye Tutorial | Collab with The Happy Diary

29th August 2017

Hello my angels and welcome to another collab post! This week myself and the gorgeous Roxanne of ‘The Happy Diary‘ are going to be doing our take on a sunset eye. This look has been all over my Instagram feed all summer, so it’s about time to give it a go. Before we get into the tutorial, make sure you go and check Roxanne’s blog out. She has such a wonderful and versatile blog, ranging from makeup and beauty, to fashion and lifestyle. There really is something for everyone, so go and show her some love!

For this eye look we’re only going to be using 3 products. The absolutely stunning NYX Ultimate Eyeshadow Palette Brights, which is potentially the most colourful palette I’ve ever seen. Other bright eyeshadow palettes are sometimes diluted by a cheeky brown or nude, but not this palette it is 16 shades of pure rainbow goodness. And then top the look off with a coat of mascara and winged liner (when is it ever a bad idea to have winged liner?).

Colour time

Now what is a sunset eye without, well, the sunset? And this look is surprisingly easy. 3 bright colours in 3 easy steps:

  1. we’re going to take the deep yellow shade 1 and blend that into our crease and slightly above, not forgetting to smoke it out a little bit in the corners.
  2. next up, we’re taking the orange shade 2 which is going to give us a more intense look, with more depth. And this is the same story, blend blend blend into the crease and lid until you’re happy with the results. Again, not forgetting to smoke it out.
  3. and finally, it’s time to tad the sea. We’re going to take the rich blue shade 3 and place it under the water line, and yep you’ve guessed it, smoke it out.

How easy was that? A super summery look, that is incredibly simple to do. That actually looks like you’ve put in a lot of effort.

Finish the look off

To tie in the sun and sea shades, I finished the look off with a winged liner to really define the difference in shades and accentuate the look. For this I used my absolute holy grail liner – the Stila ‘Stay All Day’ Liquid Liner. If you would like to see a full review of this little gem, click HERE. And then off course, it’s mascara time on the top and bottom lashes to soften the eye and blend it all in seamlessly.  And for this I used the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara, as it lengthens and curls the lashes which is perfect for this look as you don’t want to distract from the main attraction.

This is without a doubt, one of the easiest and most fun eye looks I’ve ever done. I’m almost upset the summer is drawing in so I can’t do this look as much! Let me know if you’re going to try this look out as I would love to see your looks!

As always, thank you so much for reading my loves. If you enjoyed this post then please be sure to follow me for future posts. Also check out my social media linked below, so we can be best friends on all platforms. And I’ll see you all next time xx
