Good morning honey pies! Today I’m going to be doing my first product review, featuring the MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation. This foundation has been a cult beauty product for as long as I can remember, so how it’s taken me this long to finally test it out is boarder-line embarrassing. I was gifted this for Christmas in the shade NW15 – living my pale life to the fullest.
The coverage is medium but it is definitely build-able if you wanted to go full on high coverage, and a little really does go a long way. I feel if you use that little bit too much it instantly looks cakey, so a very fine line. The formula is nice as it sits on top of the skin without sinking too much into your pores and highlighting those textured areas. As a acne survivor I really appreciate all of these things as I still have a bit of texture, some redness and some scarring which is the death of me when it comes to foundations.
My only gripes with the product itself are that there is a lot of product that is lost when applying in your tools, it just seems to get swallowed up. And smell. Oh my the smell, it smells so strongly of paint which is a bit concerning whilst spreading it across your face.
HOWEVER. My biggest gripe is packaging, give me strength. It has a screw top lid and that’s your lot. So you’re choices are tipping it upside down and praying that there isn’t an explosion everywhere/ you’re sat there for half an hour while it slowly trickles out. Don’t worry though, MAC has come up with a solution. To buy a reusable pump. You heard me right. And even when you do part with an additional £4.50 on top of the product itself you can’t use the pump straight away. As the product is up to the top of the bottle you have to use enough product in order to be able to put the pump in and use it, what is this?! My inner penny pincher had a melt down.
In conclusion I think that the overall foundation is nice and does a good job, however I really don’t understand the hype about it. I’ll continue to use it but once it’s all gone I’m not too sure if I would be in a hurry to repurchase it – which kills me as I thought I was going to be discovering a new favourite!
Let me know your thoughts if you’ve tried this foundation and what you made of it!
Thank you for reading and I’ll see you all very soon! xx
I thought it was just mine that had that sort of smell so I’ve not used it in ages! Completely agree with you on this one xx
Oh god no, it’s so gross isn’t it! It just sits in a drawer which is such a waste! Xx
Yeah I know exactly how you feel! X
Products sometimes just don’t live up to the hype unfortunately. I didn’t try this one as it is quite pricey for me. xx

Such a shame when that happens, especially when you’re so excited to try them! It is actually, especially if you don’t end up using it! Thanks for reading beaut xx
Haha, I’ve been using this for years. I have to admit about the packaging, yes it’s a little annoying. I bought the pump too just like you but never used it, I got used to using it straight from the bottle and i use my fingers to apply to avoid wastage 😀
Ahh does solve that problem – just the smell to contend with now haha! Thank you for reading lovely x
Such a classic foundation, can’t believe I haven’t tried it yet! Loved reading your review x
my latest post ♡
I’m with you there, took so long to finally get round to it! Thank you angel xx
Aww 🙁 I’ve heard so much hype about this too, I was dying to try it

I know it was so hyped up!! You might really love it, maybe give it a swatch if you’re able? x
It actually took me so long to fall in love with this foundation and it wasn’t until I used a stippling brush that I truly fell for it. Great review xx
So happy I’m not the only one who smells paint with mac foundations, always and every single type.. also I’ve found a tiny amount is better than more with mac as natural turns to plaster face quickly as they are quite thick
