Kat Von D Makeup | First Impressions Of The Classics

6th January 2018

Kat Von D, tattoo artist extraordinaire and now the genius behind KVD Beauty. Unless you’ve been in a hideous dungeon with no WiFi, you would have heard about the Kat Von D makeup range, it’s the talk of the town.

I’ve been lusting after these products for an age, and the hero that is Santa AKA Mumma, got them for me for Christmas.

I always reserve judgment on makeup products, as what someone else may adore, you may think it utter dog poop. So let’s get into the first impressions.

Lock It foundation

With the like of Zoella raving about this foundation, I had to find out if the rumours were true. The foundation claims to be full coverage, transfer proof, provides a flawless canvas that paints over imperfections and blemishes without the need to reapply for 24 hours.

With 30 different shades there seems to be a shade for just about everyone, and the bottle itself claims to be airtight to prevent contamination and keep the foundation creamy.

I went for the shade Light 48 Neutral, as I am white as paper, snow, A GHOST. (Can you tell I’ve watched a lot of Friends now it’s on Netflix?). The shade itself is a tad too pink for my skin tone, however once I’ve powdered and contoured it’s perfect.

One pump really is all you need; it glides on your skin beautifully and dries matte (so if that’s not yo thang, I probably wouldn’t recommend). However, that’s perfect for me as my skin is ultra oily and has a mini freak out when I wear makeup.

I wore this foundation on Christmas day and it survived the meat sweats, the pressure of ‘Heads Up’ and a mid afternoon nap. I’m a massive fan.

Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in ‘Bow n Arrow’

I am yet to find a liquid lipstick that doesn’t dry my lips to the extent it resembles a cat’s backside.

Now with that image in your mind, the KVD liquid lipstick is another kettle of fish. It feels like it hasn’t dried with how moisterising it is on the lips, and I’m all for that.

The shade ‘Bow n Arrow’ is a gorgeous nudey/brown, which seems to be all I wear in all honesty. Those thin lips problems. It’s the perfect shade to compliment any makeup look.

It lasted the entirety of my Christmas day feast, and didn’t crack or flake, it really is the perfect date night lipstick.

Ink Liner in ‘Trooper’

I didn’t want to like this liquid liner. I felt like I was cheating on my Stila ‘Stay All Day’ liner, and if we’re dealing in home truths. I fricken loved it.

I feel like a hussy, but oh my goodness it’s so good.

The nib is so sharp, the lightest of touches and you have a crisp line. It doesn’t smudge, it doesn’t transfer onto my eyelid and it’s so much easier to create a fierce looking wing.

I LOVE IT SO MUCH AND I’M SO CONFLICTED. I’ll report back with my long-term findings and we’ll have a battle of the liners.

Have you tried any of the KVD products?

I agree with you so much. I use both the Concealer and a frightening number of Liquid Lips; they’re amazing. Both products are long lasting yet not too hard wearing you need paint stripper to remove them
