Guilty Pleasures | It Should Feel Wrong But Meh

28th November 2017

I saw my boyfriend dunk his biscuit into a cup of orange squash. No, this a not a drill, a cup of orange squash. And he looked at me like I was the creep when I asked him why he was abusing that innocent Jammy Dodger. And it got me thinking, we’ve all got our guilty pleasures. They’re the things we do when we think no one is watching, the things we get excited about when you’re home alone. Whether it’s Facebook stalking, or stealing a salt grinder you like the look of from Prezzo’s ~cough~ mother ~cough~. So I thought it was time to share with you, some of my little quirks.

Champagne lifestyle on a lemonade income

Now as I’ve whined about before, becoming a future homeowner doesn’t allow for much disposable income. Don’t get me wrong, I’m buzzing off of my face to move out with my lil cherub and have our own place, but yo gal wants some luxury in her life. And I’m very much in the mentality of ‘you deserve it, spend the dollar’. And thus the Charlotte Tilbury Multi Miracle Glow has entered my life, and my skin is so happy. As has the Chanel Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow palette, I feel like I have my life together even just looking at its beauty. And finally I was lucky enough to be sent some samples of Clive Christain’s new fragrance line launch ‘Addictive Arts’* and I received ‘Ecstatic’ which is a classic white floral scent, and ‘Hedonistic’ a very rich and complex amber blend from the ‘Jump Up And Kiss Me’ range. These are some of the most luxurious and highly priced scents that my lil old schnoz has ever been graced with. They’re both incredibly sophisticated and mature aromas, and I imagine they would come out to play on very special occasions. I would highly recommend giving them a sniff if ever you see a counter!

Having dessert for a meal

Genuinely. Nothing fills me with more joy than replacing 1 of my many meals of the day with sweet treats. I think I still have a child’s mentality in that, I’m thinking about dessert whilst I’m eating my main meal. And there is no sorrow like a Jade that doesn’t have room for dessert. So I adore cutting out the middle man, and going straight for the good stuff. I’ve been living and breathing for the Lindt Lindor in orange flavour, sweet baby Jesus it’s smooth chocolatey goodness. And yes, I have eaten 2 boxes in 3 days #noragrets. However I have been eyeing up a salted caramel brownie recipe from BBC Good Food, and it looks bloody exquisite. And best of all? It’s rated ‘easy’, music to the ears of someone who put a pizza in the oven with the plastic base still attached.

Wearing pyjamas outside

Y’know those moods where you’re so cosy and nothing could make you happier, except, going round the shop and getting a shed load of snacks? However, you’re presented with the dilemma of ‘do I change?’ – and the answer is hell to the no. So I stay as I am in my pj leggings, fluffy socks and sweatshirt minus the bra, slap on some long boots and a trench coat and would you believe it? It conceals all your comfies. Perusing the aisles, leisurely strolling around in the knowledge you’re that person that’s come outside in you pyjamas. AND NO ONE CAN TELL.

Watching Louis Theroux on repeat

Hello my name is Jade and I can’t commit to watching TV series. I always seem to end daydreaming and missing the pivotal moments. However, monsieur Theroux has changed me. And I have found myself at 1:00am on a Tuesday watching him at a swingers party. And usually nothing can deter me from my 8 hours. He really does get to the dark side of our society and I’m a fan and a half. He’s recently filmed a few new documentaries where he addresses Anorexia, the drug problems in America and many more! On BBC Iplayer they have a huge selection of his work including the latest, go and have a gander!

I have a Glee playlist, yes, Glee

Don’t judge me. I’ve made a playlist on Spotify that is dedicated to my favourite Glee songs. ‘Dream On’, ‘Papa Can You Hear Me’ and ‘As Long As You’re There’ are my absolute favourites. I listen to it on the way to work to pump me up, however I have been caught out once. My headphones got tangled on my bag and somehow became unattached, so everyone’s got a very loud 8am rendition of ‘I Dreamed A Dream’. I was slightly traumatised, but we don’t need to go into that.
