Best Primers for Oily Skin

19th May 2017

Aloha my loves! Now if you have oily skin like myself you will know how we long for a matte finish, to not have disgraceful flashback in photos, to have to blot at all times of the day and have eye ounce of makeup slide off to God only knows where when it’s hot outside. We fret not, I have found some of the best primers to help combat this! Let’s get into the best primers for oily skin!

NYX Studio Perfect Primer, RRP £10.00

This is the cheapest out of the 3, meaning that it’s a good place to start if you’re new to primer and to see if it works for you. The formulation is nice, with it having a silky quality to it with smoothes out any pores or lines etc. It is a fabulous first primer to try, with it lasting 5/6 hours before you notice any shine start to creep through. Meaning you only have to top your makeup up a few times throughout the day, and even then it isn’t a lot.

bareMinerals Prime Time Foundation Primer, RRP £23.00

Now don’t be scared by the jump in price tag as more often than not you can pick up sample sized versions of this product. However, you really do get what you pay for. It glides on the face beautifully just swallowing up any excess oils that are already on the face. Put to this test this primer will survive a day a work for me, which is 8/9 hours however, as the day drags on you can start to see some shine on the nose for me. Still a fantastic primer that is my favourite to wear if I’m going to the gym after work, as I feel my skin is still able to breath through it.

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer, RRP £26.00

DING DING DING WE HAVE A WINNER! As anyone who has read my blog for a while will know, this isn’t a surprise. Not only is this product oil free, it is so thick and velvety that your makeup cannot budge as the oil has to work away at the primer for hours upon hours. I can safely say that when I have this on my makeup stays matte for the entire day. It is also GOOD for your skin. You heard me right, it is packed with vitamins that your skin needs and craves but also has tea-tree oil which helps to fight and reduce blemishes. Like the bareMinerals primer you can usually find a smaller sample as they are on the pricer side. However, you only need a pea sized amount so you get so much more bang for your buck.

So there we have it, 3 of the best primers for oily skin that the highstreet has to offer. Let me know if you have tried any of these primers and your thoughts. ALSO if there are any you can recommend to me, I am extremely unloyal when it comes to makeup! Be sure to follow for future posts and take a peak at my Instagram! Thank you so much for reading, and I’ll see you all next time! xx
