Autumnal Makeup Look | Collab with Glitz & Glitter Blog

30th September 2017

I used to HATE Autumn. For me, the changing of the leaves signalled the death of my beloved summer, bidding farewell to the sun for months on end and forever whining that I’m cold. However, we’ve had such a pants Summer this year I was glad to see the back of it and open to embracing everything Autumn has to offer. By not being so miserable I’ve had my eyes opened to just how gorgeous the Autumn is. The days are still quite long, there’s a chill in the air, the makeup and fashion is bloomin’ fantastic. Speaking of fantastic, Mimi from Glitz & Glitter Blog and myself have decided to collaborate to create an Autumnal makeup look. Before we get into the look, please do check out Mimi’s blog HERE and give her a follow. You won’t regret it!

I decided I would go full glam with my look, a copper eye and muted red lippie in keeping with the changing leaves. I started off kw rolex datejust 28mm ladies m279384rbr 0011 jubilee bracelet watch with a full glam base, which you can find HERE if you’re in need of inspiration! So let’s get into the look!

Eyeshadow

To achieve this copper eye I used the NYX Warm Neutrals palette, which I picked up in my recent Boots Haul. And it is potentially the most autumnal eyeshadow palette I’ve come across on the highstreet. It is packed with gorgeous warm browns, reds and coppers in an assortment of mattes and shimmers which you can chop and change to create any look you want.colour swatches of NYX Warm Neutrals eyeshadow palette
Step one: I put ‘shade 1’ all over my lid and up to my brow bone to create a base, it also emphasises the brow bones and makes your eyeshadow colours pop as they have a blank canvas.

Step two: I worked ‘shade 2’ into the crease and blended this outwards to create a smoky effect. Y’all know I love me a smoky eye.

Step three: we’re going to start to build up the intensity now. Taking ‘shade 3’ I worked this again, into the crease and slightly above the crease. I also blended this shade from my outer corner down along the bottom half of my water line. Again to create a smoky effect and make the look appear seamless.

Step four: to give the look a bit of sparkle and take it to a more glam look, I took ‘shade 4’ and packed that onto the lid. Blending the edges to create a flawless look.

Eyeliner & Mascara

Taking my trusty Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner, I created a dramatic wing. I adore this liquid liner as it is so incredibly easy to control as well as being so crisp. It doesn’t leave any smearing and there’s no transfer as the day goes on. The only liquid liner I have found that actually ticks all of my boxes. And believe me, I’ve really really looked around.

And for mascara I’ve recently been converted to the L’Oreal Paradise Extatic Mascara. Which in all honesty I wanted to hate, only because I finally invested in the Too-Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. Only for a dupe of the damn thing to come out a month later, just my luck! Through gritted teeth I must say, it’s a glorious mascara. It isn’t AS good as the Better Than Sex, but it’s a close second. It lengthens, thickens and separates and for half the price of the Too-Faced one, I probably won’t be rushing to repurchase from the Too-Faced counter.

Lips

Now, as a gal with shall we say, less than generous lips. I really do struggle with exciting lip colours, and tend to make my makeup focus elsewhere. However, a muted red shade does actually work on me which I’m utterly thrilled about. Of course, there is some lip lining involved and for this I used the NYX Suede Lip Liner in a elf bar the shade ‘Los Angeles’. I lined my lips to make them appear fuller, but also coloured the entirety of my lips so there would be no colour difference when applying the lipstick. And for the grand finale, lashings of my homeslice lipstick MAC Whirl!
